Dark Rich Gingerbread Cake
Ingredients
- 1 C. Dark Molasses
- 1 Egg well beaten
- 1 Stick Sweet Butter Melted
- 2 tsp Ground Ginger
- 1 C Water
- 1 tsp Baking Soda Mix into the water
- 2 C. Four
- 1 tsp Instant Coffee Crystals
- 4 Tbsp Dark Semisweet Chocolate chopped finely
- ¼ tsp Ground Cloves
- 1 pinch of Salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees prepare a 8×8 pan with butter and flour to prevent sticking.
- Mix all dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl and stir to blend.
- Mix together all liquid ingredients, including the melted butter together and pour all at once into the dry mixture.
- Pour batter into prepared baking pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until the gingerbread is gently firm to the touch.
- Cool about 10 minutes in the pan before turning out into a cooling rack or plate.
Notes
Serve Slightly warm, topped with Whipped Cream or Ice Cream.
For high altitude baking try added a few extra Tbsp of flour.
