British “Flapjacks”
“Such a good way to mix up the usual morning oats.”
Ingredients
- 1 C. Butter
- 2/3 C. Sugar
- 1/3 C. Lyle’s Golden Syrup
- 1 heaping Tbsp. Flour
- 4 1/4 C. Quick Oats
- Pinch of Salt
- 1 C. Seeds – sunflower, sesame or pumpkin optional
Instructions
- Line a 9”x13” baking pan or round tart pan with removable bottom with parchment to prevent sticking and ease in removal.
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a large saucepan, gently heat: Butter, sugar, golden syrup.
- Stir until sugar is melted.
- Add:
- Flour, quick oats, salt and seeds.
- Stir all to combine.
- Spread in baking pan without pressing too firmly.
- Bake 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees until golden and slightly darker at the edges.
- Cut while still hot, then leave to cool in the pan before eating.
