Beecher’s Flagship Beer Cheese
Ingredients
- 1/4 C Butter
- 1/4 C Flour
- 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/8 tsp Cayenne Pepper optional – can also use franks hot sauce
- 1 C Milk 2% or higher fat
- 2/3 C Beer different types will change the flavor, go for something light and simple.
- 1 C Flagship Cheese Shredded
- 1 C Jack Cheese Shredded
- 2 tsp Brown Mustard optional – can use stone ground mustard
Instructions
- Melt butter in a sauce pan. Add flour, onion powder, garlic powder and cayenne pepper over medium high heat.Cook for 1 minute.
- Stir in beer and milk a little bit at a time, whisk until smooth after each addition.keep cooking until thick and bubbly over medium high heat.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in cheese slowly, until just melted and smooth. Add mustard (if using) and salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve warm with veggies or soft pretzels, or over pasta for the world's best mac 'n cheese.
- reheat over low heat stirring often to avoid it going grainy.
