British “Flapjacks”

“Such a good way to mix up the usual morning oats.”

Ingredients
  

  • 1 C. Butter
  • 2/3 C. Sugar
  • 1/3 C. Lyle’s Golden Syrup
  • 1 heaping Tbsp. Flour
  • 4 1/4 C. Quick Oats
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1 C. Seeds – sunflower, sesame or pumpkin optional

Instructions
 

  • Line a 9”x13” baking pan or round tart pan with removable bottom with parchment to prevent sticking and ease in removal.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a large saucepan, gently heat: Butter, sugar, golden syrup.
  • Stir until sugar is melted.
  • Add:
  • Flour, quick oats, salt and seeds.
  • Stir all to combine.
  • Spread in baking pan without pressing too firmly.
  • Bake 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees until golden and slightly darker at the edges.
  • Cut while still hot, then leave to cool in the pan before eating.
