Cracked Wheat
makes about 3 cups
Ingredients
- 1 C. Cracked Wheat
- 2 1/2 C. Water
- 1/2 tsp. Salt
Bulgar: =pre-cooked and dried cracked wheat, makes about 3 cups
- 1 C. Bulgar if using for savory dishes like pilafs or stuffings sauté the bulgar in olive oil before adding the liquids
- 2 1/2 C. Boiling Water or broth
- 1/2 tsp. Salt may omit if using broth
Instructions
Cracked Wheat:
- Bring water to a boil and add salt; reduce to simmer. Cover and simmer for 15-30 minutes (depending on how chewy you like it), stirring occasionally.
Bulgar:
- Pour boiling, salted water over the bulgar and wait for the grain to absorb the liquid.
