Grammy’s Baked Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients
- 6 Sweet Potatoes
- 1.5 Cups Butter
- 1.5 Cups Brown Sugar
- .5 Cup Heavy Cream
- 4 TB Maple Syrup Can substitute with 1/2 tsp Maple Flavoring or to taste
- Salt and Pepper
Instructions
- Peel sweet potatoes, slice in 3/4” rounds
- Put in steamer basket and steam until a sharp knife pierces them easily.
- Remove from heat, transfer to buttered baking pan, keeping slices as intact as possible.
- In another saucepan, melt butter, add brown sugar and boil until sugar dissolves, stirring often.
- Add a bit of heavy cream and some maple flavoring.
- Sprinkle the potatoes with salt and pepper and gently pour the sauce over them.
- Bake at 375 degrees, basting the sauce over the potatoes for a while, until they are bubbly and the sauce has been absorbed a bit.
