Grammy’s Baked Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients
  

  • 6 Sweet Potatoes
  • 1.5 Cups Butter
  • 1.5 Cups Brown Sugar
  • .5 Cup Heavy Cream
  • 4 TB Maple Syrup Can substitute with 1/2 tsp Maple Flavoring or to taste
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions
 

  • Peel sweet potatoes, slice in 3/4” rounds
  • Put in steamer basket and steam until a sharp knife pierces them easily.
  • Remove from heat, transfer to buttered baking pan, keeping slices as intact as possible.
  • In another saucepan, melt butter, add brown sugar and boil until sugar dissolves, stirring often.
  • Add a bit of heavy cream and some maple flavoring.
  • Sprinkle the potatoes with salt and pepper and gently pour the sauce over them.
  • Bake at 375 degrees, basting the sauce over the potatoes for a while, until they are bubbly and the sauce has been absorbed a bit.
