Rhubarb Pie – Grammy’s Famous Pie
Ingredients
- 1 double Pie Crust
- 2 C. sugar
- 1/2 C. flour
- 1/4= tsp. Orange zest
- 1/8= tsp. Salt
- 6 C. Rhubarb 1/2” pieces
- 3 Tbsp. Butter
- 1 shake Nutmeg optional
Instructions
- Combine sugar, flour, orange zest and salt; add to rhubarb.
- May add a drop of two or red food coloring, if desired.
- Place in pastry-lined 10” pie pan and dot with butter.
- Adjust top crust and flute edges to make a high-standing rim; cut vents.
- (lattice top is an attractive alternative top crust)
- Bake at 425°F for 40-50 minutes or until juice begins to bubble through the vents and crust is golden brown.
- Partially cool before eating.
