Rhubarb Pie – Grammy’s Famous Pie

Servings 1 10″ Pie

Ingredients
  

  • 1 double Pie Crust
  • 2 C. sugar
  • 1/2 C. flour
  • 1/4= tsp. Orange zest
  • 1/8= tsp. Salt
  • 6 C. Rhubarb 1/2” pieces
  • 3 Tbsp. Butter
  • 1 shake Nutmeg optional

Instructions
 

  • Combine sugar, flour, orange zest and salt; add to rhubarb.
  • May add a drop of two or red food coloring, if desired.
  • Place in pastry-lined 10” pie pan and dot with butter.
  • Adjust top crust and flute edges to make a high-standing rim; cut vents.
  • (lattice top is an attractive alternative top crust)
  • Bake at 425°F for 40-50 minutes or until juice begins to bubble through the vents and crust is golden brown.
  • Partially cool before eating.
