Steel-Cut (aka Irish) Oats

Ingredients
  

  • 1 C. Steel-cut Oats
  • 4 C. Water
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 C. Raisins optional

Instructions
 

  • Rinse oats well, drain. Combine rinsed oats, water, salt (and raisins, if using) in a large, heavy-bottomed pan or slow-cooker.
  • Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring frequently, until thick and creamy, about 30 minutes, (or several hours or overnight in a slow-cooker).
  • Serve hot with cream.
