Cover raisins with water and cook until well plumped and soft. Mix together the sugar, lemon juice, butter, cornstarch and salt, then add enough water to make into a paste; add to plumped raisins and cook for a few minutes more.
Let cool and put in prepared pie shell of your choice and cover with full or lattice pie crust top.
Bake at 375°F till golden brown.
